Karpoorinagar, Patna, Apr 12 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today ruled out any split in JD(U) following the contest between George Fernandes and Sharad Yadav for the post of national president of the party.

Mr Kumar affirmed that the party would remain united and election for the post of President was a sign of internal democracy prevailing in the party.

Concluding the plenary session of the party here, Mr Kumar said that nobody favoured election but it was held under compelling circumstances.

The Chief Minister said the election was held for the post of President and not for the top most leader, adding that Mr Fernandes would remain the top most leader of the party.

He also appealed to the delegates of not having any ill-feeling because Mr Fernandes could not retain the top post in the party.

Mr Kumar said that Bihar witnessed a change of rule after 15 years and the government was taking all steps for improving the law and order situation.

He said ex-Army personnel had been given jobs on contract basis and their services would be utilised for frustrating attempts of law breakers.
