NetApp to invest 150 million USD in India

Bangalore, Apr 12 (UNI) Network Appliance Inc, a world leader in providing unified storage solutions, proposed to invest over 150 million US Dollars in the next two years in the country and increase the head count to 1,200.

Talking to newspersons after inaugurating its new development centre here today, company Founder and Executive Vice-Presdient Dave Hitz said the Bangalore centre would act as a strategic centre for NetApp's research and product development and creating new and innovative technologies.

He said NetApp had set up its development centre here in 2003, the first outside the US. It had now wbeen expanded in an area of over 180,000 sqft at Golf Links Software Park. With the expansion, the Bangalore development centre had the capacity to seat up to 750 people and would be further expanded in the next two years.

Mr Hitz said NetApp was driven by product innovation and the Bangalore centre would provide its customers across the world with technological innovations in areas like IP SAN, virtual tape libraries, storage management, internet access and security and enterprise data management. ''The center will also support to develop, test and certify host attach kits for our industry-leading SAN solutions,'' he added.

He said the investment demonstrated NetApp's commitment to develop products for the global market by leveraging Indian technical talent.
