Metal prices rose on heavy industrial demand
Mumbai, Apr 12 (UNI) Metal prices rose on heavy industrial demand today along with London Metal Exchange (LME), traders at the metal exchange here said.
In ferrous section : copper utensils shot up by Rs 1,000 per quintal while brass utensils and brass cuttings rose by Rs 500 each and copper heavy by Rs 300 per quintal as sellers were hoarding their stocks.
In non-ferrous section : zinc slab hiked by Rs 500 while copper wire bars and lead ingot by Rs 400 and Rs 100 per quintal, respectively, on lesser stock supply.
Tin slab and nickel cathode also went up by Rs ten and Rs 30 per kg, respectively, on increase of fresh demand.
Following were the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy- Rs 30,000, copper utensils- Rs 27,000, brass utensils- Rs 21,000, brass cuttings- Rs 22,000 and aluminium utensils- Rs 10,200.
Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars- Rs 32,100, aluminium ingots- Rs 13,000, zinc slab- Rs 16,000, lead ingots- Rs 6,500, Tin slab- Rs 460 (per kg) and nickel cathode- Rs 880 (per kg).
