Karbi Anglong bandh called against UPDS leader's killing

Diphu, Apr 12 (UNI) A 10-hour Karbi Anglong district bandh has been called tomorrow to protest the killing of a UPDS leader yesterday.

The bandh call has been given by Karbi socio-cultural organisation 'self rule demand committee' in a release here today.

UPDS 'defence' secretary Thong Teron was shot dead yesterday by a security personnel of a Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) executive member (EM) in Satgaon area under Baithalangso police station area in Hamren sub-division of the district.

A UPDS release yesterday claimed that about 200 Congress supporters, led by EM Singh Teron, had attacked the house of the United People's Democratic Solidarity leader at about 0100 hours and damaged it. He was later shot at from point blank range.

The UPDS is a militant organisation of the state which is in cease fire with the Centre.
