India probably the best ODI side at the moment: Hoggard
London, Apr 12 (UNI) Thumped in the ongoing one day series which his side has already lost to the hosts, England pacer Matthew Hoggard believes India is probably the best ODI team at present.
Hoggard, however, is still not ready to give in and believes England had their fare share of chances in the first two one dayers but stars did not favour them and India was quick to seize the opportunity.
''We've still got the same spirit. If we'd used our heads in the first one-dayer and had a bit of luck in the second, we could have been 2-0 up and it would have been a different story.'' ''But we're playing very good opposition. They're probably the best one-day side in the world at the moment,'' the pacer was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
Hoggard, hero of the Nagpur Test who, like his other team mates, struggled in the shorter form of the fame and went wicketless conceding 59 runs in his nine over in the fourth ODI.
The pacer, however, made it clear that he would prefer to do well in Test matches, rather than the one dayers.
Asked if he would like to take five wickets and guide England to a World Cup triumph or win the Ashes in Sydney, an unequivocal Hoggard said, ''The Ashes. Any team on their day can win the World Cup. It takes two people to win a game of one-day cricket. In five-day cricket, it's team against team and it takes a lot more than two people to win it.'' UNI XC AY SP1208
