India end campaign with 0-6 loss to Japan

Kuala Lumpur, Apr 12 (UNI) India produced their best showing in the competition but ended with a 0-6 drubbing at the hands of Japan in their last Group A match of the AFC Under-19 Women's football championship here today India had lost 0-11 and 0-14 to South Korea and North Korea respectively in their earlier matches and were at the bottom of the group.

For the winners, Mei Sato and Yuki Nagasato scored two goals each, while Nodoka Hosaka and Aya Sameshima scored one each.

With today's third straight win, Japan topped the group and sealed a place in the semi-finals of the competition. They had earlier defeated North Korea 3-0 and South Korea 2-1.

Top two teams from each group will make to the last four in the eight-nation tournament.
