KATHMANDU, Apr 12 (Reuters) Nepali troops opened fire on protesting pro-democracy activists in the west of the country today, killing a man and wounding another, their political party said.
The shooting took place in Nawalparasi town, 200 km (125 miles) west of the capital Kathmandu, when hundreds of demonstrators clashed with police, Yogesh Bhattarai, a senior leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), told Reuters.
The latest death is the fourth during a mass campaign launched by political parties since last Thursday in a bid to force King Gyanendra to end his absolute rule.
