Fernandes' defeat not to affect NDA: BJP

Ranchi, Apr 12 (UNI) The BJP today assetted that George Fernandes' defeat in the JD(U) national presidential election would not affect the NDA.

BJP spokesman Shivshankar Prasad told reporters here that it was an internal party matter of the JD(U) and it would not affect the NDA and its relationship with the BJP.

To a question whether Mr Fernandes would remain as NDA convenor of following Mr Sharad Yadav being elected the president of the JD(U), Mr Prasad said it would be decided by the top leaders of NDA.

For BJP, he said it made little difference whether Mr Fernandes, Mr Yadav or Mr Nitish Kumar was the JD (U) president.

Sharad yadav defeated George Fernandes in the election for the post of party president held yesterday at Patna.
