Dhoni versatile, Powar a thorn to the English side: Strauss
Jamshedpur, Apr 12 (UNI) England skipper Andrew Strauss today said Mahendra Singh Dhoni was a brilliant cricketer and Ramesh Powar was a thorn to the visitors.
After destroying India with a classy innings of 74, Strauss came at the post-match press conference to say that ''Dhoni is amazing. The way he comes out blasting at the opponents is just worth emulating. He has such a wide array of shots and its not about just hitting. He plays a thinking game and that makes him so dangerous.'' Talking about Ramesh Powar, he said, ''He is an excellent cricketer and this Indian summer he has been a thorn to the English side whenever he has played.'' Asked about the cramps he suffered today, strauss said, ''I am much better now and will be playing in Indore. We have an excellent support staff and they did a great job. I was cramping with every step, but now its okay.'' ''The conditions were tough, very tough. Though it was a little better than Kochi. The credit goes to the bowlers who used the conditions excellently. They did a commendable job.'' Asked about the pitch, he said, ''It was the fastest pitch we have played on. The bowlers had something on it and if the batsmen applied themselves there were runs.'' ''Its always special to win as a captain and as a player to score. But, an English win was very heartening,'' siad Strauss.
