CPI(M) to contest lone seat

Pondicherry, Apr 12 (UNI) The Communist Party of India(Marxist) will contest a lone seat in the Assembly elections for the Union Territory of Pondicherry.

Talking to newspersons here today, party State Secretary V Perumal said CPI(M) would field L Kalivardan as their party candidate for the Thirubhuvanai(SC) constituency.

Mr Kalivaradan secured 2921 votes in the last elections and annexed the third position.

Though CPI(M) is a constituent of the DPA, the party was not allocated any seat to contest as an alliance partner.
