Chhattisgarh demands more electricity from central pool
New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today met Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to seek urgent allocation of electricity for the state that is reeling under large scale power cuts.
Dr Singh, who submitted a memorandum to Mr Shinde, said the state needed allocation of power from the share of electricity given to undivided Madhya Pradesh from hydro-electric power stations located outside Madhya Pradesh.
The delay in issuing orders in this regard is leading to acute shortage of power and hampering economic growth of the newly-created state, he said.
Chhattisgarh, which was carved out of Madhya Pradesh, faced deduction of 288 MW of central sector allocation in November 2004 and non-allocation of 300 MW hydel power from hydel stations located outside Madhya Pradesh, he said.
There was also withdrawal of 65 MW of power from the unallocated quota of central sector stations, the Chief Minister added.
