Chaos mars tributes to Rajkumar

Bangalore, Apr 12 (UNI) Chaos reigned supreme over the venue where the mortal remains of Kannada thespian Rajkumar will be kept in state for public homage.

Soon after the matinee idol's death in the afternoon, the body was taken to his Sadashivnagar residence. As the situation could not be controlled with thousands of fans congregating at his house, police shifted his body to the sprawling Palace Grounds here to enable the public to pay tributes.

However, as the facilities were inadequate at the Palace Grounds and it was difficult to regulate lakhs of grieving fans, it was decided to shift the body again.

Meanwhile, fans opposed a suggestion that the body might be kept at Poornaprajna ground, near the actor's Sadashivnagar residence, and demanded that it be kept at either Kanteerava stadium or Palace Grounds. Tear gas shells were lobbed to control the mourning fans.

Police sources said the body would again be shifted to Kanteerava stadium to allow millions of Rajkumar fans to pay their last respects.
