CBI court convicted 49 persons in multi-crore fodder scam

Ranchi, Apr 12 (UNI) A CBI special court today convicted 49 officials of the Animal Husbandry department inconnetion with multi-crore fodder scam in undivided Bihar.

Pronouncing the judgement CBI special judge U S P Sinha convicted the persons related to case No. 19 A/96 for frudulently withdrawal of Rs. 16.33 crore from Chaibasa treasury, now under the state of Jharkhand.

They were convicted under sections 409, 420 (forgery), 468, 471, 477 A, 467, 120 B of IPC and 13(2) RW, 13(1) of prevention of corruption Act,1988.

The court convicted the accused in two categories.

The accused against whom the charges were serious awarded regorous imprisonment for five years and imposed a fine of Rs.3 lakh each.

The other accused against whom the charges were minor were handed six months regorous imprisonment.

The court also granted bail to five females, accused on the ground that they were not actively connected in the fradulent withdrawal.
