BSF, BDR firing at Mekligunj border

Coochbehar, Apr 12 (UNI) Tension gripped the Meklingunj border area following exchange of fire by jawans of BSF and BDR at the Chamaldoh village in the district today.

Around 250 rounds have so far been fired, BSF sources said.

Although the intensity of the firing has come down, occassional sounds of firing are still being heard, the sources said.

Confirming the report, Coochbehar superintendent of police Jagmohan said the area has been cordoned off by the BSF jawans.

No one has been injured in the incident, he said.

The reasons behind the exchange of fire was yet to be known.
