Bank employees to go on strike next month on work outsourcing

New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) Bank employees across the nation have threatened to go on strike from next month in protest against the Reserve Bank's order asking nationalised banks to outsource jobs.

This move to enforce contract labour in the banking system would be opposed tooth and nail, said All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) joint secretary Ramanand.

The nationalised banks had stopped recruiting officers and clerks for the last 15 years and increased the burden on existing employees, he said adding its surprising the government has no qualms in writing off debts of corporate sector to the tune of thousands of crores.

The strike call was given by the AIBEA along with the All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA), with five lakh employees as its members, following a circular to this effect by the RBI.
