Azad concerned over harassment of J

Jammu, Apr 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has urged his counterparts in various states to ensure that no innocent person is harassed on the ''pretext of questioning in the event of any terrorist act in their respective states''.

Mr Azad, in his letters to the Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Rajasthan and Maharashtra, said that the migration of students and traders from the state to various parts of the country in search of livelihood and better education has greatly helped in changing the perspective of the people here.

Reffering to the Ahmedabad encounter where two students of the state were gunned down by the Gujarat police, Mr Azad, in his letters, also asked the Chief Ministers to instruct the police of their states not to take action against any resident of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly traders and students, with out consulting the Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir and Additional Director General of Police (CID).
