Anti-liquor women protesters arrested

Kendrapara, Apr 12 (UNI) The police today arrested about 100 anti-liquor women protestors opposing the opening of an India made foreign liquor shop at Nikirai, 15 kms from this district headquarters town.

Later, the protesters were let out on personal release bonds.

The harsh action of the police followed as the women protesters sat on the road, blocking traffic.

''We were forced to book them under the provisions of section 431 Indian Penal Code as the blocking of road has been a matter of public concern,'' Kendrapara SP Suresh Kumar Palasania said.
