Two notorious criminals killed, one arrested in UP encounters

Lucknow, Apr 11 (UNI) Two notorious criminals have been gunned down and one arrested by the police in separate encounters across Uttar Pradesh.

Police said here today that Iliyas, wanted in connection with over 24 criminal cases, was gunned down in the Faizganj Baheta area of Badayun district last night. An aide of the slain criminal, however, managed to escape.

In another encounter in the Kadar Chowk locality of the same district, Prem Singh, a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his, head was arrested last night. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot, police added.

Meanwhile. another criminal Vir Bahadur Singh alias Guddu, carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head, was killed by the police in the Saura Mau area of Sultanpur district late last night. Two of the criminal's aides, however, managed to escape.

A revolver and a motorcycle were recovered from the spot, police said.
