Trucks stranded due to blockade

Imphal, Apr 11: About 100 trucks were stranded today on National Highway 39 due to economic blockade launched by Zeliangrong Students' Union (ZSU) and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) from March 31, demanding repair of the road which connects Senapati and Tamenglong district.

Officials said here that the state government was escorting the trucks on NH 39 from Nagaland.

However, some trucks were attacked by activists of the striking organistions yesterday.

The trucks could not move through NH 53 in Assam due to poor road conditions and lack of security arrangements.

Movement of passengers on NH 39 was not restricted due to the economic blockade. However, their bags were searched by supporters of ZSU and KSO.
