Special programmes to mark 2550th anniversary of Lord Buddha
Gaya, Apr 11 (UNI) Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni today said special programmes would be organised in the entire country to mark the 2550th birth anniversary of Lord Buddha this year.
Addressing a high level meeting here, Ms Soni said comprehensive programmes, chalked out by group of ministers, would be implemented by this year.
She also emphasised the need for improving transport and other facilities for tourists visiting Gaya and Bodh Gaya.
State tourism minister Nand Kishore Yadav apprised Ms Soni of different steps being taken to boost tourism industry and places. He said central fund would be properly utilised for this purpose.
Later, Ms Soni inagurated 'Maya Sarovar' dug at the cost of Rs 1.50 crore.
