Sharad Yadav elected JD(U) president

Patna, Apr 11 (UNI) JD (U) parliamentary board chairman Sharad Yadav was today elected party national president.

Mr Yadav defeated his arch rival and present incumbent to the post of persident Geroge Fernandes by 388 votes.

Returning officer Subhash Chandra Shrivastava made an announcement to this effect.

In all 413 votes were cast in favour of Mr Yadav, while Mr Fernandes bagged only 25 votes.

Of 571 votes, 448 were polled of which 10 votes were invalid.

The election was held in the national council meeting.
