Several feared trapped as UK building collapses

LONDON, Apr 11 (Reuters) Several people were feared trapped when a partially built office block collapsed today, causing scaffolding to fall down, police said.

''Two walls collapsed which caused scaffolding to fall from 14 floors,'' said a spokeswoman for Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue.

''Police are saying there could be up to 20 people injured.

We have no details of the injuries or how many people are still trapped,'' she added.

Eye witnesses told the BBC the scaffolding on the building in Milton Keynes, north of London, collapsed like a ''pack of cards.'' Thames Valley police said several people could be trapped.

''A number of people may be trapped in wreckage and emergency services are working to free them,'' said a spokesman.

An air ambulance was also on the scene.
