Scribe suicide: anticipatory bail granted to Deshonnati editor
Nagpur, Apr 11 (UNI) The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Marathi daily Deshonnati's Editor Prakash Pohare, in the case of their scribe committing suicide recently following alleged harassment by the management.
The single judge bench of Justice Bhushan Gavai observed that since there was no offence registered against any person in particular of the newspaper management, Mr Pohare should not be arrested till April 18.
"Deshonnati" journalist Manoj Padmagirwar committed suicide by jumping before a running train here on March 28.
Police later found a suicide note from the deceased's pocket, which mentioned that he took the extreme step following harassment by the newspaper management.
Following the incident, police lodged an FIR against Deshonnati and Mr Pohare. Fearing his arrest in connection with the case, Mr Pohare approached the HC to seek anticipatory bail.
