Nikkei opens little changed, non-ferrous metals up
Tokyo, Apr 11: The Nikkei average was flat at the opening on Tuesday, with gains in non-ferrous metal stocks balancing out declines in Advantest Corp. and other semiconductor stocks following falls in their U.S. counterparts.
Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. gained on soaring prices in base metals such as copper and zinc.
The Nikkei was up 5.42 points or 0.03 percent at 17,462.00 as of 0009 GMT. The TOPIX index was up 0.06 percent at 1,778.33.
