NADCAP, NABL accreditations to HAL's Foundry and Forge Division
Bangalore, Apr 11: The Foundry and Forge Division of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has secured two prestigious accreditations for global sourcing of components like forgings, castings and rolled rings for various aerospace companies.
The Division bagged the accreditations from the National Aerospace and Defence Accreditation Programme (NADCAP) for its special processes and the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for its testing and calibration capabilities.
Accreditation as per NADCAP guidelines was performed by the US-based Performance Review Institute. Foundry and Forge Division was audited for NADCAP approval in the areas of Non-Destructive Technique and Heat Treatment Process and had recently obtained the approval for both the areas, HAL said in a release here today.
Laboratory accreditation is a procedure by which an authoritative body gave formal recognition of technical competence for specific tests/measurement based on third party assessment and following international standard ISO/IEC 17025. The Union Government had authorised NABL, an autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), as the sole accreditation body for Testing and Calibration laboratories.
A formal handing over ceremony of these certifications was held here yesterday. HAL had invested Rs two crore towards upgrading facilities to meet the standards and specifications of accreditation.
