Mayawati visits the scene; demands high-level probe

Meerut, Apr 10: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayavati tonight visited Victoria Park, where a blaze at a crowded fair devoured atleast 60 people and injured hundred others, and demanded a high-level probe into the incident.

The former UP Chief Minister also interacted briefly with the relatives of some of the victims who perished in the blaze. Later, she visited Jaswant Rai Speciality Hospital and met some of the injured.

Earlier, UPCC chief Salman Khursheed visited the place and urged the people to come together in this hour of need.

Meanwhile, Meerut DM Ramkishan said ''An order for a magisterial inquiry has been given and the report will be available in two-three days.'' SSP of Meerut Rajiv Sabharwal said the police would be invesigating all the angles of the incident, including the possibilty of a sabotage.
