Khan will face trial in infamous hit-and-run case

Mumbai, Apr 11 (UNI) Bollywood actor Salam Khan, who was found guilty yesterday by Chief Judicial Megistrate court at Jodhpur in Chinkara poaching case of 1998, will face two crucial developments tomorrow.

In the first instance, he will face trial in hit-and-run case at Bandra Metropolitan court, while in another he will challenge the yesterday's order in Sessions court at Jodhpur.

In the hit-and-run case, the actor will depose before Additional Chief Metropolitan Megistrate's Court at Bandra. One person had died and four others were injured when Salman's Land Cruiser rammed into a bakery at Pali Hill in the western suburb of Bandra on September 28, 2002.

In the Chinkara poaching case, Khan was sentenced to five years in jail and ordered to pay Rs 25,000 as fine.

Additional Police Prosecutor Gulabrao Nagrale said the two, to be presented tomorrow before Additional Chief Metropolitan Megistrate J B Pankhe, are key witnesses and their statements have already been recorded by police under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The two are among the four who were injured in the mishap.

Mr Nagrale said in this case besides the two witnesses, Salman's former bodyguard and key witness Ravindra Patil had also been examined and five other witnesses, who came on the last occasion for deposition, were sent away as their testimony was not that important.
