JD(U) Election officer removed
Patna, Apr. 10 (UNI) The National Executive of JD(U) today removed returning officer for the partys organisational election Anil Hegde and appointed Subhash Chandra Srivastav in his place.
Principal general secretary of party state unit Upendra Kushwaha said Mr Hegde had been removed following complaints that he was not conducting election as per the constitutional provision of the party. He said Mr Hegde had written a letter to the party's Parliamentary board chairman Sharad Yadav to postpone the election.
Mr Hegde had also written a letter to the Election Commission requesting that the election to the post of the party president be postponed by three months. The election process to the national presidential election of the party is yet to be completed.
The decision to remove Mr Hegde was taken at the national executive meeting in Patna which was marked by the conspicuous absence of present JD(U) president George Fernandes, Mr Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The new incumbent Mr Srivatav is former MLA of the party from Deoria of the Uttar Pradesh.
