Ice-jackets could come to play in sixth ODI

Jamshedpur, Apr 11 (UNI) The Poms are set to follow the trend set by the Aussies, with the visiting England team gearing up to use ice-jackets in the sixth one-dayer against India at the Keenan Stadium here tomorrow.

The Australians under Steve Waugh introduced the ice-jacket concept during 2001 series to overcome the heat wave in India.

England Team Manager James Avery confirmed to UNI that such a plan is really on the cards.

''The English team have been carrying ice-jackets with them all through the tour. But, seeing the heat wave here we feel that it could come to use here,'' he said.

''If during the changeover some of the players really feel the heat they could use ice jackets.'' Asked if they were doing anything special to beat the heat, Avery said, ''We are doing nothing out of the ordinary -- drinking a lot of fluid and keeping in the shade.'' Meanwhile, Andrew Strauss is likely to lead the England side tomorrow if Andrew Flintoff opts to cool his heels.

The opening batsman on his arrival here tried to take on the heat with some teeing off Beldih Golf Club. Geraint Jones, Paul Collingwood and security staff Sean Gallagher gave him company as they took a break from the searing Jamshedpur heat. Though it was not quite Tiger Woods stuff they did enjoy their round of golf.
