Godrej Aadhaar ties up with Apollo Pharmacy
Mumbai, Apr 11 (UNI) Godrej Aadhaar, the rural services-cum-retail initiative of Godrej Agrovet Limited, has tied-up with Apollo Pharmacy to offer round-the-clock medical products across its Aadhaar stores in rural India.
Godrej Agrover Limited Managing Director C K Vaidya told mediapersons today, ''The agreement envisages the setting up of Apollo pharmacies at Aadhaar outlets called Apollo Aadhaar Pharmacy, offering genuine medicines and life-saving drugs in villages.'' ''We also plan to leverage Apollo group's expertise in rural healthcare and contribute towards the rural healthcare system through tele-medicine consultations, wellness programmes, health check-ups, community health insurance products, joint social welfare activities and medical camps,'' Vaidya said.
Initially, Apollo Aadhaar pharmacies will be launched at Manchar in Pune and Jagraon in Ludhiana district of Punjab.
Apollo Pharmacy Director Shobana Kamineni said, ''The Godrej Aadhaar network will enable us to unlock the potential of rural markets. Rural India will certainly benefit from this association as they can be assured of quality medicines at the right price and additional healthcare services at their doorsteps.'' The new-generation Aadhaar will offer farmers, the convenience of shopping for quality products and services under one roof at the best cost, Mr Vaidya pointed out, adding ''apart from the pharmacy, the rural community can also avail of a host of other value-added services at Aadhaar outlets in the future.'' The facilities that will be offered in the future include STD, photocopying, fax, internet, banking and financial services, courier and postal collection, electronic money transfer, saloon, food and ambulance services, among others.
Presently, there are 23 Aadhaar centres, while Apollo Pharmacy, the largest branded pharmacy retail chain in the country, has a network of 400 outlets.
