GoAir orders CFM56-5B engines for airbus A320
New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) GoAir, the low cost air carrier, today announced purchase of CFM56-5B engines for its Airbus A320 at a cost of 120 million dollars.
The engines are produced by CFM International, a 50:50 joint venture company between Snecma and General Electric Company, and are expected to arrive by middle of next year.
The new A320 order is part of the airline's expansion plan and it anticipates operating a fleet of 33 aircraft within the next three years, a company statement said.
The CFM56 Tech Insertion programme incorporates advanced technologies developed and validated as part of Project TECH56 to provide operators with lower maintenance costs, improved oxides of nitrogen emissions, and better fuel burn. CFM56 Tech Insertion includes improvements to the high-pressure compressor, the combustor, and the high- and low-pressure turbines, the statement added.
