China welcomes UN atomic chief's planned Iran trip
Beijing, Apr 11: China today said it welcomed a planned visit to Iran by UN atomic watchdog chief Mohamed ElBaradei.
''We welcome the active role of (ElBaradei) in seeking appropriate resolution of the Iran nuclear issue within the agency's framework,'' Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a news briefing.
''We hope efforts will win cooperation from the international community.'' The International Atomic Energy Agency, along with the UN Security Council, have called on Iran to halt activities related to uranium enrichment over worries it could be seeking nuclear weapons.
