Badwani bandh against Narmada dam

Badwani, MP, Apr 11: A peaceful bandh was observed in Badwani town in western Madhya Pradesh today to protest raising the height of Sardar Sarovar dam on the Narmada river.

The main market and commercial establishments remained closed in response to the bandh called by 16 social, political and trade organisations.

Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Umesh Patidar said the dam affected people in several villages were observing relay hunger strike to express their solidarity with NBA leader Medha Patkar, who was observing hunger strike in Delhi's Jantar Mantar since March 29.
