Artisan village at Surajkund in Haryana
Chandigarh, Apr 11: The Haryana Tourism Corporation has set up an exclusive designer-cum-artisan village at Surajkund in Faridabad district of the state.
A Corporation spokesman said the main objective behind setting up such a village was to create a place where designers and artisans would synergise to create and develop excellence in handicrafts and handlooms.
He said 15 specially designed galleries had been constructed in the village. Some of these galleries had already been leased out to reputed designers.
He said expression of interest had been invited from reputed designers and artisan entrepreneurs for the leasing out of the remaining galleries initially for a period of one year which would be extendable for further period.
Preference would be given to designers or entrepreneurs who had passed out from recognised institutes of design or fashion technology, he added.
