Nepal Govt not His Majesty's Govt: Demonstrators
Kathmandu, Apr 10: Anti-King demonstrators have replaced the signboards of 'His Majesty's Government' with those of Nepal Government, media reports said today.
The supporters of the seven parties replaced such signboards in Rupandehi, Pyuthan and other offices in western Nepal, Kantipur reports said.
The activists began erasing ''His Majesty's Government'' from the government signboards saying that monarchy had lost relevance in the country.
The demonstrators shouted slogans against the King and demanded complete democracy in the Himalayan Kingdom defying government imposed curfew in different parts of the country since the last five days.
Meanwhile, more than five dozen teachers and professional were arrested in Pokhara today while taking out peaceful protest rallies defying the curfew.
In Dhangadhi, western Nepal, more than 100 protestors were injured in police baton charge, Kantipur reported quoting its local reporter as saying.
The
police
also
opened
fired
at
the
demonstrators.
Some
70
activists
are
undergoing
treatment
at
Seti
Zonal
Hospital
and
the
condition
of
two
is
said
to
be
serious,
it
said.
