Umpires call off fifth ODI

Guwahati, Apr 9 (UNI) Umpires V Jayprakash and Rudy Koertzen called off the fifth one-dayer between India and England after their fourth inspection since morning.

Koertzen said all efforts were made to see the match get underway but the ground conditions have not improved to the level of holding an international match.

''So we are forced to call off the match, ''he said.

Umpire Jayprakash added that the soil was the main obstacle as it required a lot of sunshine to dry up.

The match was called off at 1315 hours.
