Tension mounts, police resorted to lathi charge
Ranchi, Apr 9 (UNI) At least six people were injured after police resorted to lathicharge to ward off a mob as communal tension continued to mount in violence affected Bishrampur, a block development headquarters in Palamu district, official sources said.
The miscreants had set on fire a CRPF vehicle and three huts of a particular community yesterday.
The situation was tense since Friday when two persons were killed and several others injured in police firing. Police resorted to firing when a mob tried to barge into a shrine, sources said.
A report from Garwah said prohibitory orders under section 144 CR P C were promulgated in the district headquarters town as a precautionery measure following communal tension.
Some miscreants yesterday damaged a police vehicle and motor cycles during a dawn to dusk bandh called by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrangdal and BJP in protest against the killing of two persons in police firing at Birhsrampur.
No fresh incident was reported in the town after promulgation of the prohibitory orders, official sources said.
