Kozhikode, Apr 9 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala must explain why it was continuing relations with the Janata Dal (S), which forged an alliance with ''communal'' forces in Karnataka, Senior Congress leader and Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Valayar Ravi today said.

The CPI (M), a strong opponent of the communal forces, owed an an explanation to the people for allowing the JD (S), which formed a coalition government with support from the BJP in Karnataka, to continue in the Opposition LDF in Kerala, Mr Ravi said at a face-to-face programme here.

He said it was very clear from the political developments in the neighbouring state that JD (S) leader and Chief Minister Kumaraswamy had the blessings of his father and party national president H D Deve Gowda to go with the communal forces to from the government.

On the Muslim outfits People's Democratic Party and Jamaat-e-Islami extending support to the LDF in the coming Assembly elections in the state, he said the opposition front, particularly the CPI (M) was inching closer to communal forces as they were not sure about a victory this time.

He said he had information about CPI (M) seeking BJP votes in many constituencies in the state.

Predicting a comfortbale victory for the Congress-led United Democrtic Front in the poll, he said the political situation was fast emerging in its favour as people were satisifed over the progressive steps adopted by the government in the past five years.

Mr Ravi alleged that the LDF was a divided house as the smaller constituents were not happy with the CPI (M), heading the front, as it annexed many of their legitimate seats.
