Pulse polio drops administered to children

New Delhi, Apr 9 (UNI) Hundreds of thousands of children below the age of five were administered polio drops in the April phase of the intensified pulse polio immunisation programme in the capital today.

Chief Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had launched the programme yesterday. The programme will continue till April 15.

This time, the programme would have a special focus on covering Jhugi-Jhopdi clusters and ''unreached'' children, an official spokesman said.

During the February 2006 phase of the programme, more than 26 lakh children were immunised in the capital.

Polio drops were administered at all Metro stations as also trains, religious places, hospitals, bus terminals, railway stations and schools, he said.
