No logic in supporting Nepal king: Richard Boucher

Kathmandu, Apr 9 (UNI) At a time when Nepal King Gyanendra's rule is condemned for the suppression of civil liberties and demand for the end of autocratic rule is increasing.

US Under-Secretary of State for South Asia Richard Boucher said he did not see any logic in supporting the King.

"There is no logic to support the king,"Mr Boucher was quoted by The New York Times.

"He has done a travesty to democracy," he said at the height of the protests and demonstrations against the King across Nepal.

The US, India and the UK have suspended military aid to the Himalayan Kingdom since the King grabbed absolute power last year.
