Mongaldoi(SC) has largest electorate

Guwahati, Apr 9 (UNI) Mangaldoi(SC) is the largest assembly constituency electorate wise having 1,71,016 voters who would exercise their voting right in the second phase of election to be held in Asom tomorrow.

But Haflong (ST) in north Cachar district is the largest assembly constituency area wise.

Bilasipara west and Bhabanipur are the constituencies having the maximum number of 14 candidates each, while Chapaguri(ST) is the constituency where there is a straight contest.

BJP has put up the maximum number of 60 candidates for 61 legislative assembly constituencies in the second phase followed by INC with 56, AGP 46 and AGP(Progressive) 42.

Asom United Democratic Front (AUDF) has given 37 candidates while the National Congress Party has 22, CPI(M) 7 and CPI only 2.

Independent and others has put up maximum number of 209 candidates out of a total of 482 for the second and final stages.

In all 82.27 electorates including 3.98 lakhs female will exercise their franchise in 8,995 polling stations in the second and final phase of polls in the state tomorrow.
