Maoist rebels set free two abducted workers in Orissa

Bhubaneswar, Apr 9 (UNI) Maoist rebels today released two employees of a construction company whom they had abducted early yesterday from a site in Orissa's Sambalpur district, police said.

About thirty armed guerrillas yesterday attacked the work site of of a private construction company at Bhojpur village, some 50 kms from the district headquarters town of Sambalpur, and abducted two employees - Prabir Swain and Ashok Sethi.

They released the two unharmed at a remote place in Sambalpur-Deogarh boarder, police added.

Sources said the construction company management negotiated with the ultras after which the two were released.

It was not known whether the Maoists put any condition for the freedom of the two employees.

Sambalpur along with adjoining districts of Sundergarh and Deogarh have been witnessing frequent Maoist attacks despite high police alerts.
