Interpol-UNSC Special Notice against Dawood

New Delhi, Apr 9 (UNI) The international police organisation Interpol has issued a special notice against underworld figure and the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts main accused Dawood Ibrahim, bringing his illegal businesses and travel under the scanner in its 184 member countries, including Pakistan.

Two CBI pictures of Dawood from the early 1990s has been posted on the agency's official website www.interpol.int. It has been listed with 60 other fugitives, including Al Qaeda leader Osama-bin-Laden.

The notice also gives 17 of Dawood's aliases plus the 11 passports he holds, including three issued in Pakistan, Yemen and the United Arab Emirates. It also lists his two possible addresses in Pakistan, besides naming the other countries where he operates.

According to the website, the Interpol-United Nations Special Notice ''is issued for groups and individuals associated with Al-Qaeda and the Taliban listed by the 1267 Committee's of the United Nations Security Council and subject to sanctions through the freezing of assets, travel bans and arms embargoes''.

''It alerts law enforcement officers at the operational level of those who are the subject of UN's anti-terrorism sanctions.

It also ''constitutes a request to each law enforcement authority to co-operate with Interpol and the UN by undertaking the actions specified in the notice against the person concerned'' it says.
