GHCL asked to pay Rs 47 lakh as fine

Junagadh, Apr 9 (UNI) The state mining department has asked Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd (GHCL), to pay a penalty of Rs 47 lakh for mining excess limestone, worth that amount in Sutrapada village of the district.

The GHCL was found guilty of mining 22, 057 metric tonnes limestone in excess which was worth Rs 47 lakh, geologist of the mining department G M Patel said.

The company was commissioned in March 1988 and manufactures high-grade dense and light soda ash, for domestic and international use.
