Fresh snowfall in upper reaches of Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 9 (UNI) The upper reaches of the Kashmir valley today experienced a fresh spell of snowfall, resulting in considerable drop in temperatures.

Reports received here said fresh snowfall was experienced at the holy cave shrine of Amarnath, Sheshnag, Mahagunas, Panjhtarni, Pissu Top, Khilanmarg, Yusmarg, Sonamarg, Baltal, Apharwat, Kongdoori, Gogjipather, Alepather besides several other high altitude areas.

Reports said the world famous ski resort of Gulmarg received heavy rainfall since this morning.

Gurez in north Kashmir's Baramulla district and Sadhna Top in Kupwara also received rain and snow.

Cold weather conditions are prevailing in the Srinagar city and its adjoining areas since early this morning due to incessant rainfall.

However, the 300-km Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the lifeline of the Kashmir valley, was open despite heavy rainfall at several places along the road.
