CRPF honours heroes who foiled terrorist attacks

New Delhi, Apr 09 (UNI) Officers and jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force who received Shaurya Chakra for foiling terrorist attacks on Parliament and in Ayodhya were honoured as the para- military force celebrated Valour Day today.

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who was the chief guest on the occasion here, also gave away cheques for Rs 1,25,000 each to CRPF sportspersons Kunjarani Devi and Geeta Rani and for Rs 75,000 each to Monika Devi, Ashiq Biwi and Seema Antil who brought laurels for the country at the recent Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Y B Thapa, Head Constable (HC) Sukhwinder Singh, HC B Santosh Kumar, HC Shyambir Singh, Vijeto Tinyi and SI Dharamvir Singh were honoured for their display of valour at the time of the terrorist attacks.
