Constable suspended for trying to rape 8-year-old

Vadodara, Apr 9 (UNI) City police commissioner Deepak Swaroop suspended a police constable, who was caught trying to rape an 8-year-old girl in an inebriated state on the outskirts of the city on Friday night.

The accused constable, Budha Gohil, said to be a relative of the victim's family, had lured the girl from her Ganesh Nagar residence in the city on the pretext of buying her an ice-cream.

The girl was rescued from a barren field in Bil village by two farmers who spotted a motor-bike abandoned on the roadside and started searching the area to trace its owner.

The villagers gave him a good thrashing before handing him over to the Makarpura police.

Police registered an offence against constable Gohil for trying to molest the girl. He was produced before a local court which remanded him to judicial custody yesterday.
