Bryans give US 2-1 lead over Chile in Davis Cup

RANCHO MIRAGE, Apr 9 (Reuters) Americans Bob and Mike Bryan crushed Chile's Adrian Garcia and Paul Capdeville 6-1 6-2 6-4 to give the United States a 2-1 lead in their Davis Cup quarter-final.

In a stunning display of doubles prowess yesterday, the top ranked Bryans were never pushed in the contest by their inexperienced opponents, breaking the Chileans six times and dominating on their own service games.

Chile captain Hans Gildemeister decided just before the match to substitute the pair for Olympic gold medallists Fernando Gonzalez and Nicolas Massu, both of whom were tired from Friday's matches.

Gonzalez needed four hours and 20 minutes to topple James Blake on Friday, and Massu played for two hours and 42 minutes in his loss to American Andy Roddick.

Today, Gonzalez will lead off against Roddick and Massu will face Blake in the reverse singles.
