Bhubaneswar, Apr 09 (UNI) Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha (BMS), Orissa today supported the ongoing strike of the workers and officers of the State Bank of India.

In a statement here, General Secretary of BMS Orissa Muktikanta Satpathy said the demands of the agitators were ''legitimate.'' While the employees of government as well as the public sector banks were getting pension at the rate of 50 per cent of their present basic pay at the time of retirement, the SBI employees were drawing pension on their basic pay determined as per the sixth bipartite agreement made 14 years ago.

Mr Satpathy demanded that the SBI employees should enjoy similar retirement benefits. He urged the Union Finance Minister to meet the demands of the striking SBI employees.
