Bengal Chief Minister calls for peaceful polls
Barrackpore, Apr 9 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister and CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today called upon the Left Front members and supporters to make the 2006 assembly elections peaceful and pave way for retain the front's return to power.
Addressing members and workers of the constituent parties contesting assembly elections at Shyamnagar in North 24 Parganas district, Mr Bhattacharya said, the state, which has been advancing during the Left Front regime, cannot go back allowing the opposition parties without ''politics'' to take over power.
''The elections will turn into a festival for the rural people of our state,'' he said while listing the achievements of the Left Front.
People of the state will decide, who should run the government, he added.
Mr Bhattacharya said further'' We want peaceful democracy in West Bengal, where fundamentalists have no place.'' UNI XC PC MSJ DB2111
